AUC 2017 - the 23rd International AUC Workshop and Symposium

EBSA Travel Bursaries

AUC 2017 is able to award 4 travel bursaries, each worth £500, on behalf of EBSA, to individual young scientists to participate in the workshop and/or symposium. The purpose of these bursaries is to promote the mobility of biophysicists in the EU area, to contribute to their training, to foster scientific exchanges between laboratories in the EU area and to promote the best Science in the field of biophysics.

Applications are invited from young scientists from the EU area who wish to attend AUC 2017 and who are not already in receipt of an EBSA travel bursary for the 19th IUPAB congress and 11th EBSA congress in Edinburgh this year. Eligible applicants are Ph.D. students registered in the EU area and Postdoctoral Fellows working in the EU area.

The bursary is to be used to contribute to the cost of accommodation and registration. The Closing date for applications is Friday, June 9, 2017.

Applicants are asked to carefully read the following notes before filling out the application form.

For the purpose of this application, the EU area includes EU member states, EU associated states, countries of the former Soviet Union, Israel, Egypt. To check eligibility, visit the bursary section of the EBSA website.

The base country is the country where the applicant is carrying out his/her research, and/or where he/she is registered for a Ph.D. Previous recipients of EBSA bursaries are eligible for new awards, but not within 24 months of the end of the previous award and not if they have failed to submit a report of the previous visit.

The awarding of bursaries will be decided by the AUC 2017 Scientific Organising Committee (SOC). Applications that come in after the closing date will not be considered. The SOC will have the final say for decisions concerning eligibility, scientific merit of the application and the level of support. The SOC may ask applicants to provide supplementary clarifications or to modify their proposal. In case of a dispute about procedure, the EBSA Executive Committee will have the final decision.

Recipients of an EBSA Bursary are required to submit a brief report (1 page maximum) describing the achievements during the visit. The report must be received by the EBSA Secretariat within 2 months of the end of the award. All correspondence will be carried out by email, in English.

Applications should be sent to Olwyn Byron, Chair of AUC 2017.
